I had a white smoke issue as well and it turned out to be the injectors. I had the injectors rebuilt and the injector pump and it went away, granted my engine was a bit older than yours but injectors do go bad. White smoke is unburnt fuel, you could check the temperature of the cylinders on the exhaust manifold with a pyrometer. If your temperature variation is greater than 40 degrees F then there is a fuel delivery problem or worse a compression issue. I learned this from a diesel mechanic I was talking with when I was trouble shooting my white smoke issue. Hope this helps and good luck!
