I've had my Kubota B7610 for about 2 months now and just noticed something strange about the position of the wheels on the rear axle. The wheel on the left side of the tractor was in farther than the one on the right. I first noticed this because the part of the axle that extends out through the center of the wheel was longer on the left side than on the right. I could see wear marks that seemed to indicate that the wheel had once been farther out. I also noticed on the right that in addition to the nut/bolt that allows the wheel to be slid, there is a pin/clip running through a hole in the axle. There is no pin/clip on the left side so I'm presuming it was either removed or fell out at some point. So this afternoon, I jacked the left rear corner of the tractor up, loosened the nut (which by the way was not really tight to begin with) and rocked the tire back and forth until it was equal to the one on the right. I also made sure the hole for the pin was aligned and plan to pick one of those up tomorrow. I tightened the nut on both wheels and let her back down.

My question is, would there be a reason why someone would have done this intentionally or do you guys feel the pin just fell out and the nuts/bolts were loose enough to allow the tire to work its way inward? I suppose I should be glad it went in instead of out!

The wheel probably walked in. That is why the pin is necessary. Glad you found it.

Thanks for the quick reply, Hodge. I'm going to the local dealership to pick up one in the morning. I'm feeling very fortunate that the wheel slipped in and not out. :D
