I foresee a hot Italian sausage sandwich in my future…….. 😋

I didn't get pictures, but Saturday was "mixed grill" with hots, hams, and sausages.
Sunday was Ruebens and Rachels........

I was fortunate to have all of our kids here. California, Delaware, local, and one who had a birthday. All doing great. ;)

N.Y,
Picked some beet greens for lunch
1000003751.jpg

And then made a turkey/ pork meatloaf for dinner. Beef is too expensive and this mix on the grill has great flavor. Some fresh picked spinach and tiny taters with it

Boy i'd sure like to have that for dinner right about now!
Believe me, that was very good!

Like the deli roll untoasted.

I might make a Reuben tonight......still have the required ingredients leftover......

Reubens were one of my favorites when cooking. Don't like rye bread, corned beef, sauerkraut, etc, but I love a (good) Reuben!

That's funny, I'm the same way. I dislike rye bread, corned beef and FOR SURE sauerkraut in any other setting. I'm fine with thousand island or russian.

Ole lady loves them and I've come to work it into the rotation on the regular. But it was an acquired taste for me. I knew of rachels before reubens.

We make our own kraut and stop fermentation before it is totally sour. We call it half sour sauerkraut. That makes great pastrami faux Reubens with the brown mustard instead of Russian.

We made a sorta unscheduled run to the Cabin to try to catch up on odd jobs with not much thought about eating. We stopped by the meat market and got what was available:

The NY strip was nice as usual, but the "first time ever" store bought stuffed tater was not too sporty.

That's a nice looking strip!

Wilson's in Crystal Springs has taters just like. We weren't too fond of theirs.

They weren't terrible, we're all just used to the unhealthy amounts of butter and salt I put in mine LOL.

I believe that they are common fare at most of the outlets. Probably all came off of the same "Sisco" truck.

This was from Smith's Meat Market on Hwy 550 when we were headed toward Jefferson Co.

@Magicman - - bet you're right....all them taters come off the same truck.

Strip looks really good!

EDIT TO ADD - forgot about last night’s Reuben.
I used a smaller loaf of rye instead of the larger slices of Jewish rye. I didn’t need that much Reuben at supper.

Even took a bite first, but it was really tasty….😋 A messy Reuben is a good Reuben..

For anyone interested, rye is from Heidelberg Bread from Frankfort, New York.

Carried in Price Chopper here, bet other chains also.

Lot of good varieties of breads. Several rye variations that brown/crisp up well on the griddle.

We look for Heidelberg when Reubens are on the menu.

Were inside of a crazy old trailer park that is part of a fish camp in this area. Lots of retired folks that come down for the weekend to play.

Of course at this point, most of us have "overserved" ourselves and its getting late. We are all walking distance and only a trailer or two away.

Ole feller from the otherside of the park was there and had pulled up on a sweet harley, probably a $40k+ bike. A few hours later, homie done drunk enough that he cant even blink in sync anymore.

Guy next to us is like damn Jimmy looks like you might need to push that bike back home, or maybe just walk. Jimmy said hell naw hes got this..... Jimmy did not have it. I was taking the garbage to the dumpster yesterday morning and look was Jimmy done did LOL.... Damnit BOY!!!!

I'm trying an experiment. A while back there was a special on small 1.5# Smithfield Maple cured hams. I thought they would be good as a substitute for Canadian bacon. Fried a few slices up and Lord Have mercy; I got more taste out of lickin a postage stamp! So today I brined the last one and it's in the smoker at 200*. Didn't take any pics, I didn't want to hear the laughter.😜🤣

That all looks super! 😋

Jimmy's Harley will buff out.......;)

20 years ago, on Father's Day, my Dad tipped my brand-new Harley Davidson over in my garage.....

I didn't have a Fairing or bags.....it was okay but for a couple scrapes.

Told him you can't keep anything nice around here......heard that 1,000 times as a kid....;)

Raspberry/Rhubarb is definitely a success. Not as juicy as other varieties (raspberries are a little "dryer"), but really good.

Raspberries were frozen from restaurant supply/grocery store just like the blueberries from her BB/Rhubarb trial.

Rhubarb was fresh and local, but the rest of that's chopped and frozen now, too. She can get that frozen from a local restaurant supply also.

I think my preference is (1) BB/Rh, (2) Rasp/Rh, and (3) Strawberry/Rh.......

She already does all three (and blackberry) as berry pies without the rhubarb. Just got experimenting with rhubarb last couple years.

Not a bad thing to be part of the R&D for a Pie-Maker...... ;)

The Mrs. is at a banquet/ dinner.

Not happy with the caterer/restaurant.

Ran out of food, quality not great, etc.

Not their first rodeo.

This was her text to me:

“We should cater next time!”

I’ve done 100’s of similar buffet banquets.

You should never run out of food…..🥺
