Probably the same thing.
When they interfere with fire fighting or law enforcement, the a-holes piloting these drones should do hard prison time and be financially responsible for damages they cause or make worse. Lets hope to God they don't take out any aircraft with their stupidity.

IF'n I lived in the county - it would NOT have been number 8s......
now in the town - it is a no no to shoot even a b b gun, but damn I use to pitch in high school - I could find a few rocks .......and ifn /when I dropped it - the people in the front yard would have been introduced to 9's, 40's and 45's not to mention an over and unders.
BUT in the county - If it was just buzzing by .....like a bird, that is one thing, but hovering and "spying" - well, not sure there would be enough plastic and aluminum around to prove it was there!

Now his battle will be to prove it was within 500ft, should be easy enough, by all my calculations max distance of a shotgun with a full choke on a flat plane would be 414ft.
He's going to get in trouble for firing a weapon within city limits or in a residential area.
Hope he gets a good lawyer (Wait is there such a thing?)!

I'd get a frequency scanner to find what frequency it was on and then take control of it with another radio. Bring it down in a nice pool of water and the dude would have to come looking for his $1800 'toy'. I'd be willing to sell it back to him for $900, half the cost of a new one.
OK so something just popped in to my head,,, sayyyyyyy you had a drone, and someone is invading your ,,,lets call it air space,,, And your drone was equiped with say a mesh net weighted on the edges,, wouldnt have to be much but something that could be disengaged and dropped in the offending drones props I dont think they fly well with just 2 or 3 props and said intruder crashed,, Would you still be libel like the guy that shot it? Kind of an anti drone, drone net,,,,

No not at all! The gun use is his major problem, but then again it wouldn't have made news if he had thrown a rock at it!
Sling shot with string in a loose ball would do it too, propellers don't do well wrapped in string!

I shoot carp with a bow and the arrow is attached to a fish line on a spinning reel on the bow. If one shot does not work, reel in and try again.

Depending on the range, yes. At 40ft or under, I can usually hit a large walnut size target with about every other round, and the ones I miss don't miss by much. I've actually damaged some darts by hitting the orange cone of the first shot with the follow-up shot, "Robin Hood splitting the arrow" style. There are several styles available (see link) but I really enjoy the "Stun Dart"- kinda looks like a little bomb. They are deadly on small birds & such, (relatively) easy to find, and make a loud, satisfying SMACK when they hit. I have mini broadheads, bamboo, and the multidarts. I don't shoot them much because they're pretty hard to find with no orange on them.

First let me state I agree with everyone here as far as having a drone hovering over my property. However, I googled "drone trespassing" and one of the risks of shooting a drone is that it is defined by the FAA as an aircraft same as any other aircraft. Apparently it hasn't happened yet, but it could result in 20 years in a federal prison. Most of the information said the only option is to call the police and file a complaint. Also the general consensus with calling the police and filing a complaint was lol with that accomplishing anything. There were statements about a privacy issue and that the FAA needs to come up with rules.
I also read that as with any other trespasser your first course of action should be to follow the drone and warn the operator not to come back on your private property. It is supposed to be easy to follow the drone to the operator as the operator is supposed to maintain visual contact of the drone.
