After some great advice a year or two ago from this forum, I have finally pulled the trigger on a L3902 which arrives in a week or so.

I now need to get a flail mower for 7 acres of pasture which is a little hilly. I will probably go with one of the Woodmaxx ones. What size do people recommend? Looks like its a choice between 6ft or 7ft.

Any advice welcome

I'm in the bigger is better crowd. An L3902 should run a 7 ft (was it 5hp per foot for a rotary cutter, a bit less for a flail?), and flails aren't as heavy as a rotary cutter - it should easily lift it.

Others will have actually run one.....but unless there's a really good reason otherwise I'd prefer a bigger flail and go a bit slow if I have to, rather than a smaller flail.

WoodMaxx has a "product compatibility" feature on their website. Look at the bottom of the page. You can input your PTO hp and 3-point lift capacity and they'll show the flails that are best suited to your tractor.
