It came off my U17's dozer line where it connects to the ram. One side is -5 ORB, but i'm not sure what the other side is. It has 1/2 OD threads and the internal passageway is the same throughout the fitting. I just can't tell the angle since i don't have a tool small enough to measure it.

Ignore the welds. They are just a temporary repair for the crack the fitting had. :)

Sure it is not ORB male X tube union or some such? Looks weird with internal cone on opposite ORB end and appears to be straight thread that side also...........

Hmmmm?

Yep I'm pretty sure, I've got some of them here.
It's made so this fitting, along with a pipe fitting will fit it.

You are probably correct. Many years ago we had hydraulic equipment with ORB X NPSM fittings which had straight thread and 30 degree seat, metal to metal seal not the NPTF threads type seal. But it was not tractor related equipment so I am most likely confused which is not hard to do. (Actually very easy to do.)

The non-ORB side appears to have straight threads (ignoring having been bent due to an impact). However, the images on the link you provided also look straight.. or perhaps very very subtly tapered. I suppose with my original being bent it'd make it very hard to notice the taper now.

Exact thread OD size of the mangled fitting is orb = 33/64 and nptm = 33/64 at tip (base was welded and ground so that value is lost).

I assume this would mean it'd be NPTM -4 x Orb -5? If that's the case then I don't see the exact part i'd need on the DHH site :( It seems i'd want 6401-04-05?

5 in hydraulics is really really rare, normally they take 4 or 6 in that size range.

For the price you could get a couple and see what works or doesn't, if nothing else it could narrow down the search.

If you have a set of calipers, measure the diameter and verify if the threads are straight or tapered. The next big help would be check the thread pitch.

If I had it to guess if it's parallel. I'm thinking it's 1/4"-19 BSPP. A standard thread pitch gauge won't mesh properly, but you can check point to point. A BSP thread is a whitworth thread, it's 55 degree form instead of 60 degree. Usually they would have a daugty washer to seal between the hex face and cylinder face.

If it's tapered, then id say 1/4"-19 BSPT. A British version of NPT but the pitch and thread form is slightly different.

Just my 2 cents.
