So we needed to take down a big tree this week. It was a very large tree (picture do not do it justice.) It was a very technical removal due to proximity or houses and power lines, and could only be taken down in small chunks. The tree cutters were going to need to 1/4 every round and haul it out. I offered up my tractor to haul out all of the rounds to a very skeptical logger.
Needles to say the crew was elated that they didn't need to pack the wood by hand. The boss wants to hire me for another job too.

(on a side note, neighbor had a strange break in his septic tank line and I dug up the pipe for him. And yes, it was a very S#ITTY JOB!. Beer was cold however. :p )

Thank you for NOT posting pics of the second job...:D:D
Yes, it was bad! Too bad I dont own an excavator, We were able to find the break in the line with the BX, however it will take a small hoe to be able to reach out far enough, and dig down deeper as there is no room to dig and bale with the bx. Looks like a pipe coupling just came apart and shifted over time. The only way to fix is too over mine and get room to adjust all the pipe. Needless to say clothes were left outside and good long shower was in order.

- I had better win neighbor of the year!

Wow! That is a tree. With all the other trees around why was that one cut down?
2 Reasons.
1. It was a man killer, the limbs alone would go through the roof in a windstorm.
2. The roots were starting to heave the foundation of the house. It was about 10' from the structure.

3. (I know I said 2 :) I was forever blowing the roof and deck off, and it is impossible to keep the house clean.

If the other trees were mine, they would be gone. They are far more dangerous for falling than this one, but with all said, we wanted it gone. Its a shame because it was a very majestic tree.

For any of us that have taken down trees those pictures do justice. That's a massive tree. It's amazing how much work they are even once down. So much raw material out of one tree. I just had a similar bull pine drop 1 branch in a recent storm. The diameter of the "branch" is 32".... missed my boat by 5ft. 5 ft to the left and I would have had two boats and neither would float.
