As it states- I've searched, but not found any concise advice on the best route to install an oil pressure gauge. So, fire away, and thanks in advance!

What exactly do you want to know?
Just about any oil pressure gauge will work, you will need a 1/8" BSPT adapter unless you get a gauge with it, most gauges come with NPT adapters.

You have a choice of mechanical or electrical gauges as well. Electric, you have a sending unit with a wire running to the gauge. Plus power and ground to the gauge, with power being hooked to a key "on" power source.

Mechanical is just a BSPT adapter at the block with a hose barb. Then a 1/4" id hose is run too the gauge, with another hose barb on that end. You can substitute the hose barbs for for a 1/4" hydraulic fitting for a cleaner look if desired.

A Harley shop would be a good source for either gauge since they are made to withstand heavy vibration and the weather :D

I had a B6100 that was very limited on space. I got a oil pressure gauge from a Harley shop since it was made for outside use and was smaller then 2" dia. Here's how I mounted it. A homemade bracket down low out of the way, mounted in an existing hole with a line going over to where the sending unit screwed into the block.

While you're doing you oil gauge modification, here's another. I got the tank at the auto salvage yard. Just walking around until I found a small one I thought I could make work. Virtually no cost, and it eliminates the whistle you hope works and you hear it!

not having gauges on my b7100 is my biggest hang up for the tractor. this is how I added some to it. oil pressure, volt meter and temp gauge. I bought the triple set from auto zone for 29.99 1.5 inch faces on the gauges and a brass tee so I could also keep the oil pressure idiot light.

sorry the pics are upside down computer refused to work with me on that

I like the radiator overflow tank Cat! That makes more sense to me than just a whistle. My whistle is messed up and I really cant seem to stomach the $90 replacement cost. I might just have to steal your idea.

85Hokie, thanks for that. I got a chiropractor appt. set up for Monday after trying to study those pictures!

Steve, nice gauge setup.

Steve, if I was on Shark Tank I'd have a patent pending on that overflow bottle!! But it was just a brain wave that hit me while walking thru the salvage yard. Have fun.

How has the overflow tank worked out? Is it a worthy mod?

Hodge, I put that on a B6100 we bought new in 1980. Installed the bottle a few years latter just as whim. Worked fine, never had an overheating even before I added it.

As a side note. Sold that tractor at age 26 for about $1200 less then new price. Had about 1300 hrs on it.
