Merry Christmas Orange Family.

I'm looking for recommendations of a Walk Behind Broadcast Spreader. Main use be spreading of Salt/Sand mix. Perhaps during warm months grass seed / ferts. Spent a good chunk of the day scouting the net, feeling rather overwhelmed. My neck of the woods the town offers Salt / Sand mix for us. I've noted just about all the spreaders found read not for rock salt, along with many reviews talking of plastic impellers failing. Looking for something perhaps I could handle without breaking my back again (done that 4 times) over the yrs. I noted the salt spreaders have a larger opening, while those geared more for lawn care smaller openings. Don't need to dump tons of salt in a pass or two. Again, I've got to keep my ability to push the thing topmost. Anyways, anyone with experience with spreaders I'd surely welcome ideas, recommendations with any models you may have come across, good, bad experiences, longevity etc. photos, links. anything you may feel be of help in my latest quest.

I just recently replaced the agitator on one much like this one.

There is a an #80 variety of this one too ( the one I fixed)

These are used on a golf course and get a lot of abuse - they are "good" units. But with any metal parts the fertilizer will eat the metal up quickly if not washed well after each use.

This one has an eccentric that wobbles the seed/fertilizer rather than just dropping it straight down.

This is pricey and the #80 version more so.

I am not saying it is worth the money - just the fact that it has lasted a long while.

I've never done salt, not needed in my part of the world

I have one of these, which I took the arms off and made a 3pt hitch bracket, and I already had a socket wired in that I use for my sprayer. So I can switch it on and off from the dash, and I added a stick to the lever that opens and closes the port.

It's all plastic, the motor is reasonably well covered so I can hose it out. There's very little that can rust on it. No idea how it'd go with salt, but presumably things like this are available in your area too. Being 3pt mounted is a big bonus for me....I get bored of walking behind a spreader pretty quickly.
