v2203 liners yes or no

I planned to rebuild a V2203 IDI out of a bobcat. So i ordered a rebuild kit with liners, std pistons. Then took the motor apart, It does not have liners that i can see, All the kits i look at do and only one place in Taiwan seems to offer .50 over pistons. does anyone know if it does have liners or not? if not why do all the kits have them?

They probably include liners because the block can be bored and the liners are installed to give you a new surface for standard-sized pistons. Sometimes blocks are known to be problematic when they are bored, so liners solve that problem.

There are liners and you will have to replace them and have them bored to standard. I learned that lesson when the bore diameters were marginal and I tried oversized pistons.

I've cleaned it all up and checked it closely. it does not have liners. the bottom of the cylinder it is notched on both sides for clearance of the crank. There is no lip to push liners out. I bought a set of oversize pistons and still getting the kit with liners. Ill let the machine show figure it out.

I'm really wondering what Bobcat you have that has an V2203 IDI engine in it?
Most have V2203 DI in them, and that parts are different between the 2 engines.

maybe im wrong. (never happened before) I thought bobcats were DI and things like reefer motors were IDI?

hmm, any chance the original engine has been replaced ?

i have the original and i have one out of a reefer. the one in the bobcat has injectors that go straight down. the reefers are on an angle.

Real simple, on the flat (on the block) facing up, right right beside the injection pump will be stamped the entire engine serial number.
Get that number.

There is several V2203's both in IDI and DI, and they used several different arrangements on the injectors, lines and the heads.
Some used pencil injectors and some used carriage / body injectors.

I have a 743 Bobcat that I put a V2203DI in it, and when I did it, I did a ton of research on all the variables at the time.

And my V2203 was a reefer engine.
