ut2 , 10-30 w or tranny fluid

I have a couple old implements 1 a loader and the other a BH both kabota they both call for 10-30w motor oil or type F tranny NETHER call for hydraulic fluid or ut2 ....Is there a difference ? WE are talking hydraulics here

I have a B219 FEL & a B670 Backhoe, both rebuilt- I run standard hydraulic oil in both.

wow , that's funny those our the units I have the 219 & 670 mounted to a b6100D , I remember a rebuild blog on the 670 BH ,was that you ?
If so, did you rebuild any of the spool valves ? ( LIL FOOT caught your post on rebuild on post for the BH 65 )
thanks for the info on the oil I have a gallon and a half of 10-30 oil that I need to use up so was going to change out the 670 BH with it since the unit has set for 25 years thought I would change it ... all the hoses are delambing/separating but not leaking YEt , but on order

Yup, that was me. I'll start a separate thread on the spool valve rebuild. The motor oil or the tranny fluid will work, but the hydraulics expert from the maintenance dept where I used to work said that I would be better off with real hydraulic fluid. He said modern fluids were better for o-ring & seal life, and would foam less & outlast the others. The only disadvantage with hydraulic fluid is that is usually lower viscosity, and may leak more, especially in older, already leaky units. He said that was good, tends to wash the dirt away.
(I think he was kidding)
