So I recently sold my B6100 because I outgrew it really fast, plus I was going to need something that had the ability to dig.

I happened to stumble across a B8200 with a backhoe and a FEL....

After looking it over for 2 hours and finally agreeing on price I bought it.

I got it home and started to look at it a little further, and quickly realized it needed work, Hydro leaks, Steering bushings, worn out pins-one of the reason I hate looking at things in the dark. Anyways, I fixed the Hydro leaks on the backhoe, 2 new lines and some welding, fixed the steering issue with a new bushing and seal.

Anyways, I am quite happy with the power of the machine lifting power and digging power, I can dig out decent sized stumps and concrete posts in the ground and it is definitely less tippy than the b6100.

My issue is I never tried 4x4 like an idiot, but when I needed it this weekend guess what? It didn't work......Are there any common failures on these systems that I can look into? I would also like to remove some of the body panels and re-spray them to spiff it up a little bit.

Also, I need a new hood if anyone can point me in the direction of one that would be great, I Googled it and found 2 places both which were sold.

Thanks!

The drive shaft from the transfer case to the front differential has a splined collar that connects the front end to the rest of the tractor. There is a roll pin through the collar that keeps it in place. The pin has a tendency to break and the collar will slide one way or the other and connection is lost. Hopefully that's your problem. All you would have to do is slide it into place and replace the roll pin. There are usually 2 covers over the shaft with 2 small screws holding them together. Open the covers (pipes) and check it out. It's usually an easy repair.

If it's as simple as a roll pin needing replaced, run a piece of wire through the roll pin and wrap the ends together. Pin stays in place then!
