New tractor owner here. I just purchased a B3000 and live in a area that gets very cold in the winter. -20 at times. I am storing my tractor in a unheated garage. I will be using it for snow removal this winter. I am looking for suggestions on what kind of diesel fuel to use. Additives? The dealer suggested #1 diesel during the cold months. Is there a big difference between off road #1 and clear #1 besides the price and color? Is one better to run long term in a tractor?
This site is great I will be using this quite often I can see. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I would use off-road fuel and add conditioner to keep it from gelling and to help keep the fuel system clean in general.

Diesel is the hot dog of fuels, you never really know what's in it. I buy on road and use conditioner. In the winter we bottom out around -10 and I've never had a problem.

I think that I would ask a local fuel dealer what blend (percentage) of #2 and #1 they have in winter.

The engine is designed for #2. #1 has less energy.

Road fuel and off road are the same fuel,, just a red dye is added to the off road fuel so truckers cant use it and get away with out paying road tax.. Mine is out the garage along with the truck the OL's Durango and the Harley. Both the little orange tractor and the HD have a battery tender put on them in the winter.
I have never had a problem with fuel just be sure you add a conditioner and keep the tank full ,,,don't want no condensation ,,.
OH and forget about using BIO DIESEL, that's bad JUJU in the new tractors so I have been told.
When you go to start her,, hold the glow plugs on for say 30 seconds before you start it, then let it set and run at idle for about as long as it takes to drink a cup of coffee. And then your good to go and play in the snow,,, NO NO WAIT I meant work in the snow yeah WORK in the snow,, Enjoy the gal and welcome to the Orange
