Just tried starting bx 1850 30 degrees after couple weeks of 15-20 degrees. Started and was running, lifted the pto and then stalled and now won’t turn over. How bad did I mess up?
Wouldn’t quite turnover. I had the pto disengaged earlier just tried lifting the assembly, still have the mower deck attached, to drive it around and remove said deck.
you mean the starter DOES spin the engine, but only very slowly ?
If so..... jumper big stud to spade lug on starter, see if it spins normal (fast).
no, either battery weak( cold KILLS them ) and /or bad cables.
easy test, disconnect ground on battery, grab KNOWN GOOD battery , jumper cable TO the starter, see if it spins
Yeah seemed to be spinning slow. It putting out little puffs of white smoke as opposed to dark cloud earlier. Hear the fuel pump running but not any closer to turning over. Had warning lights for battery and oil compression.
First things first.
Do you mean you engaged the three point lift (deck lift)?
The PTO is the Power Take Off, the lever that makes the mower deck spin.
If you did that and it stalled, you might have water/ ICE in the hydraulic system and you have sucked it into the pump and locked the pump up, thus making the motor very hard to turn.
The other option is you have water in the fuel system (that caused the stall) and you have a weak battery keeping it from spinning fast enough to start.
Is it possible that you can get it into a warm garage or shop?
Yeah, I’ve just got to move some things around I meant to back in October. If nothing else maybe crawl under there with a hair dryer. Any particular place to aim it or just at the fuel pump?
hmm, even though that gumout IS 'kubota orange' it does say 'for gasoline engines' !!
Agree though, never EVER use ether on ANY Kubota diesel..near instant 'kubota killer'
