I have a M9540 8 speed when I start it for the first of the day it makes a whining sound for about 10 to 15 seconds. It will stop if I push in the clutch. This happens weather it is in gear or not. Any idea what it could be?

Sounds to me you may need a throw-out bearing

If it's a hydraulic shuttle, there is no throwout bearing because there is no dry clutch. My M9 open station does the same thing once in a while. If you open the hood and feel the hard lines off the hydraulic pump they will be vibrating. I think on mine at least it's the rubber grommets that secure the lines has worn away. Something I need to address this spring as the tractor is mothballed for the winter.

So is it a hydraulic shuttle or not?
