Transmission stuck in 4wd mode, help required if poss.

hi guys,
just purchased another B7100 hst 4wd tractor but i have a small problem that need looking at before any other job is tackled.

Whilst checking it over yesterday i found that its stuck in down posistion in 4wd mode, i've tried giving the 4wd selector lever a good pull but it wont move, i was going to use a bit more force but decided to see if anyone else has had a similar problem and how to resolve it(without brute force and wrecking something else).
any help guys would be great before i get the really big hammer out.....

Can you try jacking at least one fron wheel off the ground. Sometimes torque builds up and the gears are so under load you can't pull them apart.
Jack a wheel will let that one wheel spin and loosen the bind, We hope.
