I have a couple of dilemmas as I reassemble my L1500 transmission,
First when I reassembled and installed the input shaft, a thrust washer
that was on the original WILL NOT fit. I got the gear and bearing
as tight as a ducks arse, and that's waterproof, but when I go to put
the washer and circlip, there is no room for the washer?
I am guessing the shaft was not made exactly like the original?
In looking at the L175 vs L1500 parts diagrams, ONLY the L175 shows
this washer being used, even though it came out of a L1500, which
does not show it?
The only purpose I see for it is so the circlip does not rub on the inner bearing race,
even though the shaft and inner race are a press fit?
I will try top find a slimmer washer,
but what are opinions in not using it if I can not find one that fits?
(see Page Shots)
Secondly I feel a slight grab (if that is the right word) when I rotate the main shaft,
I would not call it "binding" just something you can feel when turning the shaft
from the clutch side when two gears are meshed (see attached photo).
It happens with every rotation of the shaft, not the old existing gear,
so I know it is the new shaft.
I am thinking the two gears will "lap" in when the unit is run under power / load.
An OEM shaft is not available unless you want to spend more than the tractors value!
So this is, as all others are on-line from Taiwan.
Again, opinions?
