I have a Kubota L260. I want to check the transmission fluid level but do not know where to find it. Is it a check level plug? If so where is it located. I don’t have an operators manual, just the shop manual and that doesn’t show the location. It does say to use 80w oil. Is this correct? Thanks in advance

George.

I am not positive but my L185 (similar but smaller) tractor has a plug on the side of the transmission near the clutch pedal. Looks like a bolt head with a washer under it. That is what you check the fluid with. If some runs out it is full (or over full). If none runs out put some in until it does run out.

The fluid you mentioned is what they used at the time. I think you will find that UDT is fine or cheaper universal tractor fluids are also fine and will give better hydraulics performance.

There is a screen type filter in the transmission on mine but the larger version tractors got spin on filters I think. Youcan go to Kubota.com, illustrated parts list and see exploded diagrams of the tractor
