I want to hitch my utility trailer to my BX25. I want to use it around the property to collect small brush, limbs ect. Do I have to use a 3 point hitch or can I simply attach a ball to the tractor? I just love this forum, I've learned so much and have done so much with my little BX.

You do not have to use the 3pt hitch.
Do a search for trailer ball, hitch ball etc and you will find numerous posts on what different people have done to place a ball on various places on their tractor.

Why not mount one on a drawbar with an anti rotation device on the drawbar.
Very handy having an up and down when attaching the trailer.
Learn something new every day. Had to look up anti rotation device up. Appears they are also called/sold as a Drawbar Lock

I made this one myself. It stays on the 3pt unless I need it for the ballast or rotary mower. So handy to just back up to a trailer, drop the 3 point, back under the coupler and raise it. All from sitting down.

I like the 3pt. A little more expensive with the tool and triball, but you can do it all from your seat as previously stated.
I bought this one and had a 2nd hook added. Its pretty stout.

Can someone please tell me if there are any cautions to using the 3 pt hitch to pull things like trailors that I am missing? I had a simple 3pt hitch draw bar on my old 8N that a friend put on that he used (but I didn't). I was surprised to find that the owner's manual for my new 3560 sternly warns against using the 3 pt hitch, in one place specifically warning against using the top link, and only to use the draw bar in the center. It implied you could tip the tractor over. I didn't quite see how. The hitches you show would be way more convenient to shift my horse trailor and manure spreader around. I am new to some of this so excuse the dumb question. Thanks!

#1 If the trailer is too heavy you won't be able to either lift it, steer or stop with it on, Just learn the weights.

#2 If you go down hill and the weight shifts forward there is nothing stopping the three point from rising up and causing problems, some models have a check chain that attaches to the drawbar to keep this from happening.

#3 If you do not have your sway links set right the trailer could whip sideways and catch the tread and upset the trailer or the tractor, Just make sure to adjust the sway chains or links to keep that from happening.

Argh!!! could be scary. Thanks Wolfman I'll look at the balance of the horse trailer, hadn't thought about 3 pt going up. Should be a way to manage spreader safely.

As NIW stated, with no down pressure or other restraint, the trailer tongue can bounce up & slam the three point arms against the end of their travel, usually with expensive results.

I painted a negative picture, but with a L3560 you've got plenty of back side to move a fairly large trailer without much of an issue.
I move my 20 foot flat bed loaded with firewood with no issues, and we don't have any flat ground to work with!

Thanks everyone, as I mentioned in a previous post I hate learning too much the hard way. This new rig has a fairly steep learning curve, but will help me keep my little farm going a few more years (I am older than the Ford 8N, so labor saving devices are important, especially ones that will lift stuff :) )

If you find yourself in a situation where you have to pull something that is stuck. Hook to lowest point. Anything above the axle will flip tractor over backwards if all the wrong things happen. A buddy did something wrong with an old case tractor, it lifted front wheels then jumped and kept repeating. He was hanging on for dear life and fought to get foot on clutch. Luckily he got it stopped before it flipped. Woulda killed him.

The drawbar is usually the lowest mountable point on the tractor. It also accepts standard ball-type hitch balls, so that's the easiest one to deal with, and quickly done.

You can purchase multiple draw bars to quick attach them or you can get a receiver adapter for your drawbar and use receiver hitch style connections.

I'd only use the 3 point for lighter trailers or if I was going to fully secure the 3 point while towing any significant distance with a heavy trailer.

Points well taken. I had only thought to use tractor to park horse trailer in tight spots easier than with my truck, but it is pretty heavy. A former neighbor saw her husband die looking out the kitchen window when he flipped his tractor. I never knew what he was doing that went wrong.

It is hard to imagine if you are used to cars that the torque plus the traction of the rear wheels will lift the front end up before the wheels will spin. Got to rethink that.

I think the nifty rigs in the previous posts appealed because it looked like they could be used over a quick hitch. To get to the draw bar I think I'll have to take the quick hitch off. But that is a thing to do after the snow season! Thanks again.

Going back to the OP, i also have 2 differrent tanks sprayers mounted on rear luggage racks. They slip right into the 3pt drawbar. 1 has a 50' hose and the ohter has a boom for a 7' spray width that i use for killing weeds. With the boom its nice to adjust up and down to get the right spray coverage. I'll check this driving while spraying over the corner of my concrete driveway.
Then the triball for moving my log splitter and enclosed trailer around the property.
Possibilities are endless.
