My name is NCL4701 and I sometimes watch tractor fail compilations on YouTube. (If you missed that reference congratulations, that’s a good thing on your part.)
I find them cathartic after incidents of my own equipment related stupidity as they remind me I’m not the only dummy with a tractor. Usually my “fails” are along the lines of scrapping a $150 rope because I didn’t leave enough rotational play in the snatch block I chained to a tree and shredded about 30’ of the outer sheath while pulling a wind damaged tree down that was busted but hung up in another tree. (Yeah I actually did that.) I knew how to rig it correctly but was just careless and felt bad about wasting $150... until I watched a tractor fail compilation later that evening. Some of these operators are unbelievable.
I do feel more than a little sympathy for some of the operators who clearly have inadequately small, poorly maintained, worn out equipment, apparently due lack of funds; but still doing the best they can. Been there, done that, glad it’s in the past. Very dangerous.
A few are just mechanical failures that could happen to anyone. Most of them, though... WTF??
