Hi all,

Are there any specs on towing capacity of tractors or general rules of thumb?

I'm looking to move a 10,000 lbs tiny house (2 axles, large tires) around my property with an L4150. Is this advisable?

I tried searching but nothing came up. Thanks!

I know this chart isn't your tractor, but thought it may give you a little guidance:

The max according to this page in the manual is 6,600lbs which is the 47, 50, 54, and 60HP Grand L tractors.

the tractor could move a locomotive!
What would you guess the tongue weight would be?
If more than 600 pounds or so ..... you start to get heavy on the draw bar.

Moving that house on FLAT ground would be fine - the PROBLEM is .......... stopping it!!!

I would say if moving on flat ground and <1 mph - you could do it. IF any hills or anything out of normal - I would say no way!

Well said! I've moved that house without issue with a 60hp Fiat. It was on flat ground, grass and real slow so the weight of it would stop all movement on a soft surface. I just don't want to break the gearbox in the first week of ownership LOL.

Most HST tractors in low ratio will spin the wheels long before they'll break something. They should also stall out the engine long before they break the gearbox.

I'd do it, all day and twice on Sunday. So long as it's flat. As others have said, pulling it's not a problem. Stopping it is. Any hills, any speed, then think carefully.
