I want to add a "ROPs mounted" tool-storage box to my BX tractor.

The Kubota tool box p/n TC420-18510 is $75 and needs the mounting bracket p/n K2792-96350 for an additional $76. That's over $150.

Is there a cheaper "pre-made" quality tool box that mount to the ROPs? I know I could make something, which I'm thinking about doing, but I'm wondering if anyone other than Kubota makes a tool box specifically for these BX/B tractors that is just a bolt on - no fuss - installation?

BXpanded offers a ROPS-mounted tool box, available for left or right side. It includes a mounting bracket and a plastic ammo can. I believe it is around $60 on their website.

Thanks BXinNH nice tip. I'll check that out.

@windzer, I thought about that approach, I have a welder, but no metal/material to fab up a mount and no ammo can, so I'd probably be out nearly as much $ as buying it premade.

EDIT: I went to BXpand website. I'm willing to pay $59 for the convenience of a pre-made, ready to install, tool box. But the goofy site lists the tools box as "Configuration A or Configuration B (see configuration diagram)" rather than a "Left side" or "Right side" mount - AND the site doesn't' have a "configuration diagram" anywhere on it that I can find, so now I have to e-mail the company and wait for a reply to know which Configuration to order to get a right side mount box.

I'll agree with "Windzer", either the 30 cal. or 50 cal. metal ammo boxes are perfect solution for tools, chain, or anything else on the Kubotas.
I buy mine up here in Atlantic Canada from Princess Auto, but I suspect any Army Surplus, Northern Equipment, or even your Tractor Supply stores may carry them. We pay 19.95 for the 30 cal. and approx. 29.95 for the 50 cal.

My dealer threw in the Kubota tool box. Nice bracket, cheap (and small) plastic box. The BXExpanded setup looks near identical.
I often found myself using the box as a 'grab handle' when getting on and the hinge was failing. So I removed the plastic box and put on a 7.62 ammo can. More water proof, larger but not so large that it is in the way.

Theres no metal fab needed just drill 2 holes in the side of the ammo can and use the 2 carriage bolts that were there to begin with and Bolt it on 5 minutes job if that. I know it sounds like it's going to be flimsy but it really isn't trust me.

I have one of each, nice to have 2 boxes for more storage. Quick call and they will advise, very good customer service at BXpanded.

I bought a BXpanded box when I bought my Piranha tool bar, but that dinky plastic box fell off after about 4 hours of bush hogging, and was eaten by the bush hog. Thankfully I didn't have anything in it, but I had mounted a SMV sign to it since the original was moved to the backhoe. The sign survived, but the bracket the smv sign attaches to didn't. A 30 cal ammo can fit the BXpanded bracket almost perfectly, but that's a lot to pay for just the bracket, and then have to buy another SMV bracket. Not only that but I had to buy my own bolts for the bracket. The ROPS is 2" x 3", so you would think it would come with 3" and 4" bolts, but it came with 2" and 3" bolts. I decided to mount it in way that required 4" bolts. Not a big issue since buying by the pound at tractor supply it was something like 78 cents for the bolts. I guess the one good thing was that it came with a handful of extra nuts and washers that can be used for other projects with the bolts that didn't work.

I use the tool box to hold iphone for music. Drilled hole to fit cable to Bose headphones and to the dc outlet to keep charged. I rest head phones over tool box when done.
