Re: right catagory?

Maybe the right category, but the title sucks for everyone. Consider something like -
B2301 TLB (or FEL & BH) - Should the rear tires be filled?
EDIT: Title has now been changed

What 100 said.....

I am gonna guess that 50% of us that have a FEL have the rears filled, the other 40% use a ballast box and the other 35% wish they had the rears filled!

How you like that Yogi Berra math?

So despite what the good book says, there is very little wrong with weight below the center line of the tractor! It makes it far more safe to operate ...period! Now on a fantastically manicured lawn, it might mat the grass down a bit more....but that is the only exception I can think of at the moment!

Re: right catagory?

Nobody really know why they put that in the backhoe manuals, but the consensus seems to be that it would put extra strain on the backhoe if you use the backhoe to move the tractor, or if you lift the rears with the stabilizers. My dealer filled my rears also, and I have a backhoe. After using the loader (with the backhoe on) to pull up some old fence posts that struggled to come out, I'm thinking the reason might be that with the backhoe and rears filled then it allows you to put more stress on the front axle before the rears lift. Either way you should be okay if you take it easy.

Better thread title and better category! :D

Thread title: To fill or not to fill...Rear tires B2301

Thread category (If you got here on a forward): Tires and wheels

Glassman13,
When referring to your tractor use the whole thing, B2301HST
If you can take a picture of the manual page that your referring to, that would help too. ;)
