Tiller size help??

Hey guys,
I'm fairly new to the tractor and farm community, we just moved out to a few acres southwest of Portland, OR. I bought an L2501 off Craigslist which has been great, but I'm now looking for a tiller. Will the L2501 handle a 60" tiller alright, or do I need to stick to the owners manual recommendation of 54"? We have a flat 3 acres with little to no rocks or clay to speak of. Any advise or recommendations is appreciated.

IT will truly depend on the soil conditions....and more so the bite you take with each pass, if you are sure that there is no rocks and no hard clay, you should be fine - every year it will get a little easier on the tiller. I would have a disk or bottom plow hit it before you start tilling.

Another question....what will that other 6" cost? For example a 5' back blades are fairly cheap....once it hits 6' the cost moves up considerably. I would imagine something like that is true with the tiller too!

It will handle the 60" just fine. A friend of mine has your same tractor, and runs a land pride 66" with no problem. I also run a land pride 66" on my B2650 with no problem.

I run a 60" on my 2650 and it handles it just fine.

I'm just North of you with similar soil. Skip buying a disc but think about a sub soiler, AKA ripper. PM if you want and I'll give you my thoughts on buying a tiller around here. I redid a couple of pastures last fall and they turned out great, more this fall.
