Thinking about buying a L2250D

Hey guys,

There's a guy down the street selling a L2250D. I've been perusing online looking for info on these and I came across this awesome site.:D
I'd like to know as much as possible before I talk to him.

A few things I was wondering about.

D = 4wd?

Can I still get (most) parts for this? Repair parts anyways.

Ser no is 59681. Anyone know what year? I understand hours are more important, just curious. I like to know everything about my stuff. Kubotas site was useless for this.

Loader is a BF400G. 880lb weight limit? Any way to safely raise that? I understand I need a counterweight in the rear.

Any particular weak spots? Specific things to look for?

It's been sitting for a few years [3+] outside and has no price, just a FS sign. Before looking closely at it am I nuts to think $1 - 2,000 for it? It has a cab and front loader. Tires are dry rotted.

If it operates as it should he should ask more than $2k. Just sold my lil 15HP Iseki for $2700.

I love this game; I’m going to guess $5000.

Actually "DT" = "Dual Traction" = 4WD.

The 2 types for that model are: "F" = 2WD and "DT" = 4WD.

The transmission was: "mechanical shuttle"

D as in DT = Double Traction/Dual traction, Yes 4wd

Yes most all parts are still available.

No way to accurately tell the year, it's somewhere in the 1985 to 1990 range.

No you're not going to get much more out of the loader.

Nothing weak or odd about that model.

Yep your nuts... that's a $6K to $10k unit... yep even with bad tires and been sitting for years.

If you can pick that up for $1k to $2k you have found yourself someone that is either desperate to sell it, or lost their mind.

That's probably why it's been sitting so long, because everyone thinks they can pick it up for a couple hundred.
These models don't go down in value over time! ;)

Your B8200D is not a B8200D.
It's either a B8200DP - geared 4wd
or a B8200EP -geared 2wd
or a B8200HST-DP - Hydro 4wd
or a B8200HST-EP - Hydro 2wd

And no I have no clue what the P designation is for, it's an oddity!

Alright. Good info. It will probably be a few weeks before I get around to talking to him. Gotta do some more research and thinking.

The L2250 is a great little tractor and came with a few different set ups. Pretty much bullet proof. It's actually a grand L series and had extra options such as a mid PTO and middle mount mower option.

Growing up, we had one. It was a non synchronised shuttle shift. It had two shifters on the column. Left side was forward neutral and reverse. Right side was a 4 speed gear selector that shifted like an old on the column shifter in an old car or truck.

Tractor was put through hell and back. Had a logging winch for it and used it to skid logs in the winter. Mowed fields, tilled gardens, graded driveways and many other tasks. It was very reliable, and to this day has only had general maintenance done to it :D

I was just trying to inform you of the differance.

GST is a transmission type, Like HST.
GST's are Glide shift transmissions, they mechanical transmission that hydraulically shifts gears, and yes they have a shuttle for forward and reverse.

But I think your talking about the suttle on a manual transmission, and that shuttle can be mechanical or hydraulic.
Mechanical, the lever and linkage manually moves a fork that changes the direction.
Hydraulic, the lever controls a hydraulic valve and then the valve controls a hydraulic actuator that shifts the direction.

And no, it must just be the way people describe their machines. I see GST machines listed as having a shuttle shift and I see D (Or DT) machines listed with a shuttle. Then I see others listed as GST and others listed as shuttle shift. Why I was asking if shuttle and GST are one in the same.
When I say listed, I mean browsing for sale ads, like on tractor house.
I didn't know that the shuttle aspect was found on gear shift and glide shift. Seems like its basically a reverser. Which Is why there would be the same amount of reverse speeds as there are forward speeds on a machine with a shuttle or reverser.

The designations also what makes it weird when differentiating between models.
You could have a GST model and HST model and a gear shift model, all of them can be DT (dual traction by definition but not designation) but only two of the designations reference the trans type, while the gear model, is referenced as DT, which supposedly has nothing to do with the trans.
