Hello All,
I'm new here and new to lawn tractors in general so bear with me if I ask as dumb question.
I could really use your help -
My situation is: I purchased a older but nicely running tg1860g for next to nothing - local small engine shop gave it a tune and it purrs like a kitten now.

It came with what appears to be a 54" mower deck which was not attached. I brought it to the local kubota dealership here and they told me it would be expensive to mount the deck as it would require the front mount, belts, possibly bearings, new blades, among other things. Then they told me they would buy it from me for scrap, which kind of made me a little suspicious. The tractor does run/drive really well but they quoted me at least $1400 + labor (CAD) to attach the deck.

My questions are:
1 - Am I being taken for a ride?
2 - What parts are they referring to (maybe I can get them myself for cheaper)
3 - How difficult is it to attach the deck (maybe I could get the parts and bring it to the small engine mechanic).

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated as I am kinda out of my element here.

I do not have money for a new tractor so I would really like to get thins one working for me and cutting grass if at all possible. If you guys think I should sell it for scrap just let me know.

Thanks very much.

Lets start with the basics.

From Tractordata.com your garden tractor should have a Kubota RCK48TG mower deck.

Look on the Messicks.com web site and enter your mower model into the left hand box on the Kubota page.

https://www.messicks.com/ku/86123

From what I can see, your mower is mounted in the same general fashion as most garden tractors. A metal U shaped loop that hooks over the front of the deck.

This loop keeps the mower from moving back was the linkage pulls the deck up.

Belts: two different ones needed. One $21 and the other $45.
3 blades $50. Bearings around $8 each.

I suggest an independent repair shop would be the better place to go to get the deck installed.

Go to the Messicks site to see the parts and their costs.

If you cannot post some photos of the deck, send me a private Message (click on my name on the left side of my post) and include your email. We can then get you to email me some pictures which I can put up for you.

Dave

Hello Dave,
Wow - thanks for taking the time to write that up for me; that is some amazing information and makes me feel more confident about the situation.
I am going to pick up the tractor from the dealership this weekend and I will upload some pictures at that time.

Thanks again!
