T1600 front wheel

Hi, my T1600 ride-on mower has a flat front tyre and I can't get the wheel off to repair. I removed the split pin assuming the wheel would just slide off.. but no luck, the wheel just won't come off the axle.. Is there trick to it?

Bearing are probably just stuck on the axle, put a board up against the inside bearing and smack it with a hammer!
