Hello all. A few days ago i picked up a t1400 lawn mower in good shape for a bargain. Known issues are weak battery and the blades won’t disengage. The previous owner told me he changed the belt and since the the blades stay engaged without pulling down on the engagement lever. If you pull down on the lever it kills the engine.

I also wasn’t able to get it running when I got home, but from reading the forum here I see if the seat is up it won’t start but will still crank? Guessing since I had the seat up jumping the battery it killed the spark.

I suspect he screwed up when he put on the new belt.

Once it warms up a bit I plan on seeing if the belts are on correctly and/ adjusting whatever is needed to get it to work.

I’m not looking for a full repair manual, just some guidance on belt replacement and adjustment. I can’t even find an operators guide for the mower so sort of stuck. Anyone have any tips or instructions on belt setup? Thanks

Sounds like wrong belt9too short,so TIGHT fit), so you need to know/post the deck model number for the rider. Maybe measure the deck width, could be 48", 60", 54" ,???
All Kub Cda has online is the rider NOT a deck. Kubotabooks has a parts manual(T1400H) but again no deck.

Well I got it cranked up once I sat my butt on the seat and choaked it - but the blades are still engaged when they shouldn't be and there's a smell of burning belt - thinking the previous "kid" that had the lawnmower who said he had just changed the belt messed it up and/or there's some other issue - maybe a bad pulley? I have an ebay service manual on the way but I don't know if it will have info on the mower deck / belt setup.

Still think I'll wait till it warms up a bit before I tackle the project, but if anyone has belt info on the deck it would be appreciated. Thanks
