I was given an old Ford double shank subsoiler. I have used it a couple of times behind my L35. I can say it will dig so deep that all the L35 will do is spin all 3 wheels and that is with a full bucket of gravel in the front bucket and water in the tires. I could pull it only about 1' deep at the most. I had thought about taking one shank off and mounting the other in the middle of it, but never got around to it. Let us know how you come out. Good Luck!

I have a sub soiler single shank and pull it with my L3240. The Kubota pulls it with ease. My previous tractor was 40 hp
2 wheel drive and pulled it also but not with the ease the 32 hp 4 wheel drive Kubota pulls it. Use 4wd, go slow and it will do a good job. It is also useful if you need to dig a ditch. It breaks the ground up and then you can easily shovel the loose ground by hand. A word of caution, you must be careful when sub-soiling as I hooked a tree root with it and broke the top link on my other tractor. Mine is a Fred Cain brand and I purchased it from a Massey Ferguson dealer about 15 years ago. Here is a link:

I pull a middle buster subsoiler with my B7500HSD and as long as I do not let it drop too low I have no problems, You do have to be careful of tree roots as Hook has mentioned, If the soil is compacted I make several passes adjusting the depth with each subsequent pass.

Well gang I picked up my new Gearmore GR200 ripper ( sub soiler ) today after work went straight to the ranch to give it a try before dark. Im more than pleased on how well my L3830 handles it Im ripping 16" deep on my first pass and 23" on the second pass . I realy thought it wasnt going to pull well in this heavey adobe soil but it realy works great.
