Today was the first time in 41 hrs that I had to use my F-150 4X4 to bail out my new tractor. I've been able to use the backhoe to get myself out of various binds on my property thus far. I actually was proud of this fact. However, today's dilemma blew my streak.
The area was 4 in. thick concrete about 10' X 10' with a healthy 18" poured footer all around. After busting out and hauling away the concrete (a real bitch, I might add), the hole pretty much filled up with water. Very high water table there. Well, while trying to smooth things out some, the sandy mush decided to suck my front end down to the point where my exhaust was splashing mud all over the place. And for the likes of me, I just couldn't manage to pull myself out of this one. Swinging the ass end around just seemed to make things worse.
Could any of you fellow owners have figured a way out of this mess without resorting to backup? Mind you, I have turf tires. I doubt ag tires would have made a difference though. Somehow I feel like I've cheated. What would you have done?

You're screwed with your front end in that trench. Curl the bucket down, then lift the front wheels with the loader, then back out and curl the bucket up at the same time. Or get a helper to do that while you try to claw out backward with the backhoe. If you can get an anchored chain to the backhoe, sometimes you can pull your way out. Other times you have to punt like you did and use the pickup.

Next time, throw a big beam or log in front of the tractor, then use it as a base for the front loader to push against, and lift the front out & roll the bucket to get out.

I like the chain to a tree idea if'n there is one around with the hoe end. I too agree, front end down in that hole, gonna be hard to get out . I keep 40 feet of chain onboard just in case of stuff like that. You didnt cheat, just used your last resource, some of us aint got that ......and I know you were careful as hell when you pulled it out.......a broken chain, rope or strap will kill a person quick as lightning .............. glad you got the ol girl out !!!:D

You got out without damaging anything- that is a win in my book. No need to feel like you cheated.

Sometimes using the last resort is the best way of getting out. I had the same thing happen but in the back of my property with my tractor. It was right next to my neighbors driveway and my neighbor hooked up to my front end loader and pulled me out with almost no problem except I had to cut the fence that was between me and his driveway.

Whatever you do that gets you out without breakage or injury works, in my book. I've used an electric winch a few times.
AG tires can dig you in worse, or get lucky and find hard ground under the mud. The big thing is the times you don't get stuck but maybe would have with turf or industrial tires. My L3200 with AG tires just drives right through a lot of places that were iffy with the industrial tires...

If you can get it out with an F-150 then you ain't stuck! I dumped two different Bobcats in the pond, and had two different neighbors pull them out with Deere 4020's. I used my F-150 as an anchor so they didn't sink any more. Now I don't take the skid steer by the pond anymore. I don't take the Kubota there after it rains either, but it took a while to learn that.

I had a similar incident with muscrat dens around pond and my zero turn. Ford and Kubota. You fellas have good taste. I just recently went from green to orange. Still love my cases though. Kubota diesel in skid loader so I hope that counts.
