Storing extra parts

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this.

I have an extra B7100 back half and front drive unit. Currently, it’s sitting outside, in tact.

Silly question, but what is the best way to store it? As is, or strip the parts per part group, lightly oiled and boxed. I would make metal covers with gaskets to seal off any openings. Advantages are any given part would be on the shelf, clean with a coat of oil. Makes for quicker repairs, not to mention if I sell some parts.

Perhaps I have too much time on my hands

probably better to build a well vented shed around it, store as 'whole' parts ? less to deal with and you KNOW where 100% of it is !

55 gallon drum of oil and store the parts in there!

Really the best thing to do is get them inside weather controlled.
Spray any exposed metal with wd40 and leave it on.
If you have large openings, covering them with Duct tape or a seal plate is always a good idea.

If they need to stay outside, Pallet them in a crate and wrap them in plastic with WD40 sprayed on all non painted metal parts!
I even put desiccant bags in parts that I really want to make sure they stay rust free.
Your in a HIGH humidity environment so rechargeable Desiccant is a really good thing to use.
