Does anyone know the purpose of the Stopper (inching up) and Stopper (inching down)? As far as I can tell, they don't engage with anything else. They're in the Lever guide-RH illustrated parts list, # K2871-55250 and K2871-55260. This is on a BX23S.

Can't be. The Lever doesn't get closer than an inch or two from the Stopper- unless it was installed wrong at the factory. And looking at the parts diagram, it's installed correctly.
They look like they are adjustable. I would consult the Operator's and Workshop manuals.

They are adjustable width-wise (front to back-they are actually bolted together) but the problem is they are too far to the right of the Lever to ever make contact. I will take another look just to be sure.

OK, I took another look at the Stopper. The Lever itself stays about 1 1/2 inches from the Stopper, BUT there is a pin that sticks out from the iever that is only about 1/4 inch from the Stopper. I think that the Lever has been bent so that the pin just misses the Stopper. Could have happened when I took the fender assy off. So Dan was correct. Good call.
