hey guys

I'm looking at upgrading to a M135GX or similar size tractor.

It looks like the steering is Hydraulic cylinder that transitions into a tie rod. That seems like a troublesome design.

Has anyone eliminated the tie rod and gone with a full hydraulic cylinder that connects straight to the wheel spindle?

Its a proven design that has been used for decades by just about every OEM.

Is there a reason you want to eliminate having the "adjustability" of a tie rod?

I don't know how often they go bad on tractors, but vehicles regularly get 100,000+ miles out of a tie rod and they get subjected to relatively much "higher speeds" than a tractor.

Unless there is a some "special need" that I am not aware of, it sounds like a case of "A solution, looking for a problem".

I think I've changed one of those joints and it wasn't from wear it was from someone hitting a stump.
You would have to come up with a real elaborate set up having 2 cylinders on pivots.
Now that sounds like a huge problem!
