I've got excess play at the steering wheel on my L175.
Checked the manual to see about an adjustment bolt (as on most other tractors) but there isn't anything that's clear cut on doing it. I see the shimming procedure, but that's about it.
Not at the tractor location today, but will be next week, and would like to get rid of the wandering going down the road.

Someone have the procedure?

If I remember right from my L175 the adjust screw is on the right side of the gear box. Straight down from the steering wheel the steering gear box is mounted on top of the trans case. On the right side (as sitting in the seat) there is a long hex shape with a flat slotted screw head inside that sticks out the side horizontally. Loosen the hex, I think, to turn the slotted screw. Turn the slotted screw inward to reduce the play then lock the hex shape down to hold the setting. Due to the design of the worm gear and the way the bearing sets the ratio of adjustment is not the same when turning the wheel from lock to lock (side to side). Make your adjustment so that when the wheel is turned throughout the range there is not a tight binding spot but the play is minimal at one point. That will be all the adjustment you should make. It is easier if the wheels are off the ground so you can turn the steering and feel the play.

Thanks, appreciate it.
