well you'll have to post WHICH tractor you have. Can't offer what is causing the problem until I have a look at the wiring diagram.
Obvious things are 'user upgrades ' to electrical, vermin chewing wires, loose connectors, bad battery cables, corroded wires, gimpy switches(seat,PTO, PBrake, ?? )

Your profile says 1998 Kubota, but nothing else.

If you told us what Kubota you're working with, it would be helpful.

Is it a tractor, excavator, UTV, skid steer?????

What model?

Starts but doesn't run - - does it shut down when releasing the key?

Sounds like there might be some crud in the fuel tank. Check the fuel line from the tank to the filter to see if you have full flow.

Guessing that is the type of run/stop solenoid that needs power to let tractor run. Getting that power from the key switch in the start position so it starts. Release key to run position and power is cut to solenoid and tractor dies.

I recall reading about the solution in this forum but no recall on the solution.

Sorry, I'm new at this.

I have a 1998 Kubota B2100. I bought it a month ago and don't have any history on this tractor. Had to rebuild the rams and replaced the hydrolic lines

Starts fine but stops after 2 seconds, over and over. Was running longer for hours but over 2 weeks it has had a shorter run time, now down to 2 seconds consistantly.

I have replaced the fuel filter and stop relay. Waiting on the fuel pump.

I have noticed that if I wiggle the ignition key, that the dash lights flash off/on. I'm going to try watching the dash lights while doing start and let it stop cycle to watch for lights flashing. Might be the ignition switch. It's raining now, so that is my next effort.

Thanks ahead for the help. ... Steve

We need to determine whether you have an electrical or fuel problem. I recommend @North Idaho Wolfman's bottle feed procedure, remove the short hose between the lift pump and the injector pump. Run a hose from the injector pump inlet up to a small container above the engine, so that fuel gravity feeds to the pump. Block the lift pump discharge, or prepare to catch the fuel. Start the engine and see if it runs normally. If it dies like before, you have an electrical problem involving the fuel shutdown. If it keeps running you have a fuel supply problem.

Let us know what happens and we'll proceed from there.

Johnny 5757 Welcome to the orange insanity. There are lots of good folks that have forgotten more than most know,, if that makes sense. Just go slowly po boy has a good place to start, sounds like you checked all the simple stuff first, a good start. One more thing to check is the fuel line form the tank to the lift pump, a 30 year old piece of equipment might have lines that have gone soft or have swollen up for some reason,,, check if there is a good flow from the tank if you do, check the discharge from the fuel filter. Lots of time the lines get all mucked up of the out let from the tank get debris like bugs dirt and saw dust grass clipping as well,,,
Best of luck to you let us know what you find

You have a stop solenoid feed issue.
Is this right?
It cranks starts and as soon as /or within seconds of letting off the key from crank it dies.

Say you replaced the stop relay, is a little odd because it shouldn't have one.

There are two power feeds and a ground that go to the stop solenoid.
#1 feed is the White from the starter, this is the pull in signal.
#2 feed is the Red / Black this is the hold signal.
Black is ground.

The fact that you say when you wiggle the key the lights flicker is pointing to a bad switch or wiring connection.
With a simple test light put it on the red back at the solenoid, if the light flickers or does not stay lit with the key in run, you will need to chase the issue down.

Yellow is crank signal, blue is hold signal.

Actually replaced the Stop Solenoid, not the relay, brain fart with the assist for Steve/Jonny...Mike
