Hello,
I have inherited a B7100HST with a house I purchased recently. I'm trying to fix things as I have problems but I've been fortunate this tractor has been well maintained and runs well. Recently while mowing one of my fields I heard a small "thunk" and the tractor stopped moving. The engine was still running but it wouldn't move forward or back. After a little bit of investigation I found the front drive shaft had come out of the universal joint; the pin holding them together was missing. I got a replacement spring pin (and I'm trying to get this inserted) to fix this so I get get moving again. I guess my question is this; there doesn't appear to be anything which sits over top of the spring pin to keep it from working its way out again some day. I figured it would have a sleeve or something but the schematic doesn't show anything. Do these spring pins pop out from time to time? Also, this pin is in an spot which doesn't allow me to tap it in with a hammer, any tricks for inserting one of these would be really helpful.
Thanks.

I am a bit confused by your description. First I don't know why the tractor would stop moving because of the front drive shaft. It should still operate normally without the front shaft. Second the pin I think you are referring to holds the shaft including the universal joint to the output shaft. These pins are a friction fit. They normally don't fall out but do break sometimes. Could you provide more information and/or pictures.
Thanks

I recently replaced the u-joint spiders on my front shaft and found that, while the spring pins are designed to stay in place by friction and springback pressure, mine came factory wired (through the pin and around half the shaft) to prevent them from working out.

I think you mean the spring pin has come out of the propeller shaft.
if is that what you mean then yes it does get a wire to hold it in place #110.
