Leafy England....
Hi all
as you may have noticed by now i am what could be best described as a real petrol head when it comes to Motorcycles and all things Bike.:D

Its a passion i have allway had since my first steps and being able to get on a small pedal powered bike. I can honestly say i have tried and owned a lot of Bikes , accross a pretty broad spectrum of them to be honest, off road to race track, i just love them and the whole biking expereince.

Anyway, after a lot of thinking and contemplating i have decided that it may now be a good time to part company with the duke, as much as i love the duke , with bad knees and re-accuring carpel tunnel in both wrists , its getting a struggle to really ride it as it should be.

I have allway loved the classic british Cafe Racer bike , and especially the Triumph Triton:cool:, I supose now i am getting older and wiser, well maybe not wiser;) it is time to have a change.
saw this picture in recently and i have to say , i love it, just looks so right:cool::)
Its still a race type machine in a classic form but a much more forgiving riding position , better suited to the more mature ( wornout) biker:D

there is allways a good chance i will keep the duke just because its such an iconic bike and still still get a triton, just dont tell the wife .

pic atteched of the triton, just need to find one like it for sale, which may take a while to find a good example.
if any of you guys have any feedback on this subject or just interest in the same thing please drop me a line.

OK Rob heres how it goes,,,,, Sweet you know old,
insert name of someone she has no idea who your talking about,,,,, Just bought this great old brit bike and since he cant do what needs to be done on it he asked me if I could help, and of course I said I would,, Now once its in the garage and you have some parts from old bikes tossed around it making it look like your doing something to it,, and after a couple weeks she gets use to it,,, then you go for a ride because now you have to test it out,,,, well now its fall and well old whats his face has no place to keep it over the winter, you say you would, cause your such a nice guy,,, Come spring,, well he owed you money for the parts and just desided to give you the bike for the parts cause he lost his job and moved to some place out side of Chicago.
Well it looks good on paper anyway, worth a try :D And you know as well as I if you ever get rid of her no ride will ever be the same, just like that old pan head, nothing is quit the same.

Really, all the best on your search, and remember when your in the wind there is no pain
Peace

I like classic bikes also, but those British bikes sure require a lot of attention!

I do ride it occasionally. I've got a few other bikes to keep me busy. Riding the Commando is like driving an old 60's muscle car. It just picks up a goes! Sounds great also!

I love it. I'm sorting through my first day on this tractor forum, and what do I find? A motorcycle thread. If this link works, I'll put in my two cents worth as well. These all currently reside in or very near my garage.

The one bike I don't have now, and kind of wish I still did, is the '68 Norton P-11 scrambler that I bought new in 1968. Unfortunately it had a tendency to eat pistons and vibrate its aluminum oil tank apart, so it eventually turned into the '73 Bonneville that I still have and is in the process of being rebuilt.

Nothing sounds quite like a British twin.

Edit - I guess you have to click on a picture and then scroll through to see all of each picture.

You've got yourself quite a collection of bikes there. The Suzuki Rotaries must be interesting!

now thats a varied collection:), noticed the XT500, i allways wanted one but allways seem to miss the good ones, great bike :D

I was looking back through my bike photo albums aswell, found a pic of another one of my bikes that was a real bike, well of the late 70's early 80's that is, I had a really nice Honda CB900FA . What a great bike it was to ride and it was such a big bike when sitting onboard, and offcourse it evolved into the the even better CB1100RB sometime later.
ohhh , the memories come floading back to me now, it such a shame we cant rewind the clock to a better time and place.
anyway , nice bikes that man.:D

You have some pretty nice iron there bill. The Honda brought back some memories. I guess a lot of started out on them. I bought a use Honda 4 cylinder 350 cc, for its size it was a pretty fast bike, smoked a lot of bigger bike easily. But then I got smoked by a BMW 90 R with a chick riding it,, I found one traded off the 350 and got the crap scared out of me:eek:,, now that was a FAST bike, well for its time it was one of the fastest.
And from then on I decided that low and slow was more to my taste and been riding HD ever since,:D,, I wonder if that guy I sold it to, ever got that brown stain off the seat on the BeeMer:confused:

I built this LSR Triumph and a friend rides it at the ECTA standing start one mile. We are the current 650 cc pushrod gas class record holder. It's modified 60's engine parts in a 70's frame.

And what I ride is this 85 1000 Moto Guzzi ugly bobber...
