Have you used the hard plastic (UHMW or something like that alphabet letter soup) under your factory-installed shoes? I have been replacing the shoes on my snowblowers at least once every 2 years. I did find a place that will send you cut pieces to your specification at a reasonable price. Just not sure if it is worth the effort and cost. A 3" x 3" x 1/2" square is $6.50 and shipping in the continental US is $12.50 for 4 pieces. New shoes are about $40 each plus shipping.

Paved driveway I think?
If you're wearing out shoes?
Would it be better to let the blower edge to ride on the pavement and replace the edge as needed?
Just a thought.
Good Luck!

Have yet to use my "upgraded" 60" Allied snowblower this season...but I did bolt plastic skid "runner" pieces to the angle iron shoes...as you are suggesting.
Using/bought King Hy-Pact polymer pieces from TAP Plastics...product info says superior to UHMW (Ultra High Molecular Weight) plastic...but they seem pretty light weight. I used 3"w x 12"l x 1/4" thick. Attached via countersunk flat head bolts through the shoes. I made two (2) sets...thinking they will help keep the blower front edge up out of the dirt during the first few storms.
Hopefully they will just glide easily once we get a hard-pack base.
Blower edge seems to be 5/8" to 3/4" off the level ground now...
