I know I have asked this before, and it was more or less a passing inquiry. But yesterday some fellows showed up I did not know, asking all kinds of questions and yada yada.
I sent them on their way with a smile and to be careful pulling out on the road, and a call to the state police, for obvious reasons.
Now home security systems!
What I would like is a camera in or out side the garage, down by the road showing the driveway, thats about 300 feet or so away from the house so I would have to assume that would have to be WiFi, to far to wire it in. And of course front door, back door and on big garage up by the house. Something thats not going to break the bank, but still if I go to the GWN I can rest a bit easyer, if that makes any sense.
I dont own a smart phone or a cell phone even but I do have a tablet I take with me if that means anything. And I would want it to call the PoPo if some near do well stops in for a visit. So smart guys tell me please

1st, 300' is nothing for a coax cable video feed. Hint: Cable companies 'drop' cables that far all the time. I currently have 1GB service at about 200'.

The big problem is FINDING nonWIFI cameras though several stores do sell 4 camera and 8 cameras systems. To keep costs down, NO harddrive....YOU have to buy and install, which may or may not be a big deal..... Get Google to do the looking ,maybe 'wired security camera systems', or similar wording ?

Up here can't have the alarm directly call the cops. A 'security service' has to do that.

I just bought and set up a 4G camera for monitoring my camp (starting a construction project). Its solar too so no wires at all. It does cost something to comunicate with the verizon network but not sure what that is yet as it comes with a free amount of data. It has ability to alert me of movement via cell phone app.

What about a driveway alarm? we have one of those on our 250ft driveway. It alerts us with a doorbell tone that a person (or deer) just came down the driveway.

I‘m wondering if a simple gate with some fake cameras mounted in plain view wouldn’t be perhaps even more effective for a residence one is living in.

I don’t have a clue really. But my gut tells me the info recorded on camera is probably most important AFTER the fact and does little as far as prevention. Again, just a gut feeling.

I don't know what would be best for whole property security... but for 'home' security I run the 'DEWS' system, and you're NOT getting past that undetected.

Dachshund Early Warning System. ;)

I actually have two.....because its always good to have redundancies where safety is a concern.
