Small trench required...can I remove "teeth" from bucket?

I need to make a small, thin trench for some temporary non-electrical cable (I don't care about "being perfect" here). I was examining my backhoe which has three teeth on it. Can I (as in "will this work") remove the two outer teeth, leaving only the middle one and just scrape down the area where I need to lay the cable and put it down and then re-cover? Really I'm just trying to lay the cable down and hope that it doesn't get chewed by mice or the dog for the time I need it in place!!

Absolutely. Unless you're digging through rock, I don't think you'd hurt the bucket.

laying invisibile fence?
how much trenching to do?

as #40fan says have at'r with a single tooth.

not knowing what type of machine you have or other equipment or soil type or distance, some other options you could consider:
- use a single fork from a set of pallet forks (i have done this with great success in sandy soil)
- vevor sells light duty single tooth ripper attachments for your draw bar / 3 pt hitch setup if you have access to this for cheap like $50. I have added a piece of 90 degree bent conduit for laying ehternet cable and invisible fence and it works fantastic and very quick for large runs.
- tractor supply sells a 3pt single shovel furrower for $200. Could also use the conduit trick on one of these but probably overkill.

other stuff to consider especially if you like owning accessories like me for use on other projects.
I really like the ripper tooth option with conduit if you have ability to swing it.

Oh - haha....for sure I was short on detail!! So...thanks for the replies. Yes - short-term burial of an ethernet cable out to the front...we have a neighbour whose dogs like to roam free (we are quite rural) and we have a new puppy. Not a good combination, and the neighbours, though nice, can be quite "forgetful" of ensuring that their dogs remain on their property. So...want to put a cam up front and watch the compost out by the road as well as the actual front entry of the driveway.

Soft earth....ish. I could go up one side of the driveway as well, but likely will try to keep to the shoulder. I might be able to adapt the idea of the 90deg bar.....would be perfect in all sorts of ways.

Oh -- BX24.
