Side Gear Box disassembly

I am needing to replace the spline shaft that comes out of the side gear box for the 4WD. I am wondering if anyone cane tell me if the shaft can be removed without removing the whole gear box. The shaft is #22, and I already removed the end plate #24. The manual I have says to disassemble it using the picture.

Yes it should just come right out the front.

Thanks. Thats what I was hoping. I guess the bearing is just lightly pressed into the case? and a slide hammer set up will pop it out?

Nothing in a kubota is pressed in except seals, all parts are tolerance fit and normally can just be pulled out by hand.

Kub's machining is very good. Ball bearings are a sliding fit in the bore. No slide hammers. I've replaced gears in a L225DT (story here) and replaced the needle bearings in the side gearbox. They're inexpensive but wear out affecting other more pricey parts.

If your shaft splines are worn, the 34160-44274 shaft is getting pretty hard to find. An new external sleeve coupling half with dog point screws drilled into the worn splines may be an answer.

You'll probably be impressed by Kub's precision machining. Every ball bearing I've ever taken out is a very snug but readily sliding fit in its bore. No slide hammer needed. I've split and replaced gears in a L225DT (story here) and replaced the needle bearings in the side gearbox. They're cheap but they can affect other more expensive parts.

I got a shaft and some other side gear parts off E bay. The female yoke end of the front drive shaft is toast, along with the original shaft. Splines gone. I got an adapter 18 spline to 6 spline. Will have the end machined off and welded to the yoke, plus new shaft, good to go. I am interested in what your meaning about the screws.
