I replaced one of the pistons and rings in the 3 cylinder Kubota engine in my L3010. Got it all back together and just wondering if I should use break-in oil to seat the rings or can I just run the kubota synthetic oil?

Thanks for the help!

good write up on that very question

break in oil
I have a new engine showing up soon and it gets an oil and filter change after 20 hours of run time. The manufacturer is very specific about the break-in process so I decided to run regular 10W-30 for the first 20 hours and then switch to 5W-30 fully synthetic oil at the first service. My thought process is that I don't want to prevent the rings from wearing in properly by using oil designed for optimum performance.

It's good to see that article addresses break-in guidelines from manufacturers. Kubota has a break in procedure in the owner's manual too.

Yes…run ordinary motor oil for break-in…to provide good matig of new parts to each other.

In fact…KEEP USING ORDINARY diesel-rated motor oil.… Save your money, IMO
