Serial Number

Trying to get the age of my L345DT, I have Kubota Engine help sheet, but these numbers do not seem to be on there, I am thinking it is an 80's model. The engine model is V1501-DA, any help with these would be appreciated. Thanks,

Yes, left side of clutch housing, so going by this it would be between 79-80 correct.

The age of the tractor really has nothing to do with the serial number or when it was manufactured.
The age of the tractor is when the tractor was first sold.
That's just the way it has always been with Kubota's.

It’s not often that anyone as ignorant as myself can “catch” the Wolfman making a mistake…. Is there a prize or re-ward for it …IF it can be done..?

Cambridge Encyclopedia: “Age means the length of time …. a thing has existed.”

Perhaps Kubotas are more commonly measured by “Time in Service”… which would be displayed by the hour-meter…

… or by “Time SINCE being placed In-Service” …. which would be the most-commonly accepted measure of these things.

Definitions are important, IMO.

MY M4700DT was mfr’d in ‘96 according to its Serial Number.

It was first sold in spring of ‘97.

It has 734.8 hrs on it.

I am its third owner, having owned it since May 2018 when it had 405 hrs on the meter…. meaning that I average about 40 hrs/yer usage. That is not good for it, because its only had 3 engine oil changes in 8 yrs. (it is commonly thought that oil should be changed at least annually.…but I have done it at 100 hr intervals.)

The L345DT was built from 1978 - 1985 and all appear to use the same parts. Searching on K-Pad I didn't see any indication that parts were changed or updated (old vs new kind of thing). So other than peace of mind of knowing the exact year it shouldn't matter as far as parts & maintenance is concerned.

If you're like me it'll always be in the back of your mind bugging you, but I wouldn't loose sleep over it.

Take the serial number and model number to a kubota dealer and they should be able to provide that date.
