One more "newbie" issue I had cleared up while at the dealer... (File this one away in case it pops up.)

My L3800 used to totally drive me crazy. I'd pull up and stop and the engine would quit. I could have idle or high revs or anything in between. Yet other times, with the same power setting, it wouldn't quit. Huh?

I thought I had some intermittent seat switch or thought there was a switch on the power lever to shut it down if your were out of idle. WRONG.

The switch in question is the one on the HST pedal. If the HST pedal isn't right on "zero" the lack of a seated operator will kill the engine. The slightest bit FWD or REV will kill the motor. My pedal is a little sticky so I am going to spray some lube on it so it has a better chance of centering -and holding. AND, I am going to shoot some spray cleaner on the switch, to make sure its working consistently.

Happy hauling...

Yes the encoder switch must be in its home position ( 0 ) or any number the engineers dreamed up and seat switch made. I spray the foot pedal shaft and the underside linkage with silicone spray on mine every other bath. Dirt and dust aren't drawn as much to the silicone as other heaver lubricants.
