Searching for replacement D1005

Hello,
as I noted in other posts here, the D1005 base engine in my Beta Marine is in dire need of a rebuild due to many small and some bigger issues.
Now in my current situation and location it seems to be a better idea to just exchange the base engine with a better second hand one. Now while browsing various second hand dealersI noticed that the D1005 comes in some different versions.
Does aynone here know if there are versions that have major differences which would make a swap rather complicated?
I am aware that some engines have a "Boost Compensator" which my engine lacks. But I am sure that this is not a big issue?
Of course I am only referring to engines with variable RPMs not the fixed generator type, as I guess the conversion might be a a slightly bigger deal.

From a Cushman Truckster XD. Low Hours. In great condition and working order. Hitch included. Instrument cluster included. It was used on a converted vehicle which we then converted to electric so we don't need it anymore. Looking for $3000. We're located in Metro Atlanta.

Haha. Yes. I am actually a bit more south than Austria but in the general area ...

I am still trying to figure out the various differences in the d1005 engines.
Some have a hose attached to the engine block close to the oil filter. ( See first image )
On others this opening is not used. ( see second image )

What is this used for? External oil cooling?
