As a custom knifemaker, I'd be seriously worried that the blade had either carbide teeth or only heat-treated around the cutting edge and that the section of the sawblade used for the edge would either require additional heat treating or worst case be made of steel that is not hardenable in the first place. Many companies save on the costs of the higher end steels needed to actually cut by using pot steel or lower quality stuff for things like the blade bodies. This isnt the case for MUCH older sawblades since the tech didnt exist back then to do bi-metal fabrication to save costs.
