I have a Kubota L185 with rear tires loaded with Calcium Chloride. I would like to switch to just air as I do not like the corrosive factor. In fact one of them is very corroded around the valve. I am aware this corrosion is common. My options are: 1) replace the rims with new, 2) replace the rims with used but still healthy rims, 3) weld a patch on the old, something I haven't done before, but am game to try. Anybody have advice what you have found is the most efficient fix?

If you decide to go with different rims you will have to go with used, but you could also change the tire style if you wanted. I believe that the rims from a L260 fit the L185 since the front rims from the L260 did fit and I looked at the rear (R1) and they are supposed to fit both tractors. The L260 rear rims are adjustable width rims also so you may be able to get the rims only and weld your centers into them.

This salvage yard in California is/was operated by @007kubotaguy and has used parts for the L185 and L260. Give them a call to see if they have the rims you need, but shipping may be a killer to NH!

You also have the choice of filling your refurbished/new wheels with non corrosive ballast such as rim guard, bio ballast or methanol.
