rust proofing or paint

I'm curious if any of you guys spray down the implements that you are putting away for the winter with an oil mixture to keep them from getting too rusty? Is it perhaps a better habit to touch up the paint instead? If you do use an oil mixture, what kind of mix is it?

Thanks for the feedback Vic...I was thinking along those lines, I get my pickup "Krowned" regularly. I'm looking forward to getting some snow if you can believe it, just so I can get out there on my little orange tractor. Thanks again.
