I have an LX2610 cab model, and there are these rubber insulator boots that go around the steering column and also on the levers that go thru the floor. They're like a rubber boot that goes around a stick shift at the floor of an older car. The insulator on the steering column, fits onto the dash where the column goes thru. It keeps popping off and dangles from the column. I almost never adjust the column height., so I must be bumping it when getting in and out of the cab. Another one on the 2wd - 4wd lever pops off as well, and has actually slipped thru the floor and must be hanging on the lever under the floor. Not a big deal, just irritating mostly...because it's on an expensive tractor. And the cab is heated and airconditioned, so I'm losing some heat or cold air thru the holes.

Anyway, I'm looking for a solution. I'm thinking of some taky but non-drying adhesive to keep them in place. Any ideas? i don't want to just caulk them in place in case I have to remove them for maintenance or repairs later.

Hi, If you've got no mechanical solution available such as using wire ties or some springy wire inside the boots, you potentially could use some silicone.
It's flexible and at least it can be easily cut if you need to remove the boots. A little goes a long way for fixes like this.
If you go that route. just clean everything really well so there's no oil or grease on the surfaces.

If the steering shaft boot is coming out you need to grease the interface. The boot gets stuck to it and twists itself out. Superlube(silicone grease) works great. As far as the others, automotive weatherstrip adhesive will hold them in place.
