Bought an RTV400 and the motor is blown. Paid $750 with 187hours. I haven't pulled the motor yet but drained the oil and put a camera in there. She's blown... now I am on the journey where I'm realizing how expensive this is going to be. There are no more GH4120 subaru motors to be found.

I am hoping someone has an idea of what is involved in swapping in a Predator 670 v twin in. Shaft issues? Clutch conversation or replacement? How do you get the motor out? If not using EFI does the cdi box matter any longer?

Shame this is so new and no rust. Oil was black and lacking so I suspect it was not maintained.

Also open to another type of motor that would be a better fit.

Thanks

Pull the motor, take some measurements, and see how it compares to the 670. Won't be able to use much if anything off the original motor, but depending what size the crank is, might be able to use the clutch. he 670 uses a 1" crank, so might work. If not, they are available. I put one in a Wheelhorse 520 hydro.

Im.guessing to get it out you have to drop the cage it is in. Im guessing the 670 Predator is a better option in the long run. More power and, unlike the gh2140 Subaru engine, its readily available. I need help on finding a good clutch for the 670 predator. What did you use?

I meant GH4120 on the Subaru model.

Since the 670 has a 1" crank, and the original was 1 1/8", got a spacer from evilbay to make up the difference. Dunno what ur machine uses for a clutch, but gopowersports sells stuff that will fit n work on the 670.
